25 Feb 2010 Nathan’s version on the wheels on the bus

Nathan loves singing and sometimes he doesn’t know the lyrics of the song and would totally make up his own. One of his favorite song lately is “The wheels on the bus.” It’s so entertaining to listen to his singing. The song would go like: “The baby on the bus goes wah wah wah, wah wah wah… Then the mommy on the bus says: I love you, I love you but when it comes to daddy’s turn, he would says the daddy on the bus says shh shh shh…” Then Andy would said, em.. daddy doesn’t do that!! Daddy also would say: “I love you…” This little thing can just made my day. How I wish they are could be so entertaining all the times. :)

24 Jan 2010 Chasing after my pocket
 |  Category: A Day of my Life, Nathan, Toddler  | Leave a Comment

Nathan has never realized that sometimes pockets are at the back of the pants. Yesterday he pretended to talk on the phone, after he had done “talking” on the phone, he was still carrying his phone in his palm. I suggested to him to put the phone in his pocket. So, he couldn’t find any pocket and I told him the pocket is at the back of his pants. He still couldn’t put in. I had to help him to put in the pocket. But he still thought that I put the phone in his butt in his diaper. Anyway, after i showed him putting the phone in the pocket a few times, then he realized that it was there. Still couldn’t put in and the sight was so funny. Just imagine a dog chasing after his tail and in Nathan’s case, he went round and round trying to put the phone in his back pocket!!

20 Dec 2009 The Christmas 2009

Finally, we decided to buy a tree this year to make Christmas more cheerful in the house. I guess especially for Nathan, he is very excited about the tree. The gifts that he has received so far, he has put them under the tree. Maybe he doesn’t know what is inside and that’s why he could resist the temptation of opening up the gifts. After all it’s his first year of Christmas that he really “know” what is going on. I’ve been busy creating some crafts myself. I did the stockings for three of us. Mine is taking the longest time since I quilted some difficult pattern using my friend’s pattern – Wendy (check out her wonderful works using the links). We’re ready for Christmas morning to capture the joys and excitement from the little one. Of course, we’ve been constantly telling him that Christmas is all about Jesus and not about tree and gifts :-). Here are some of the pictures of the decoration I’ve done around the house. Not that much, but maybe next year we’ll include some of the handmade crafts that I could make with Nathan. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone! Another year has passed by…

03 Dec 2009 I’m a big kid now…

Some of you might not think that this is not a biggie. But to me and Andy, it’s another milestone for Nathan. Finally, Nathan could go to sleep without daddy or mommy’s company! It started out last night when I actually sneaked out of the bedroom before he fell asleep. Of course, after he realized that mommy is gone, he left his own room and came out. I was not happy because I was lying in the bed with for more than 30 min! So, I told him to go to bed by himself… in a angry tone!! He got my message loud and clear without a fuss. After a while, i checked on him, he was sound asleep. Today, I tried asking him to take a nap by himself because it was way passed his nap time, so he fell asleep without a fuss also. We tried another round tonight, he did cry a little. But he was ok after a while. Yea… we did it. I thought I’ve to keep this routine with him for a long time. Apparently, it’s not so hard when he is so ready to do so.

23 Nov 2009 What is he doing?

Usually mornings are busy for me even though I do stay home with my son all the time. I’ll just do all the cleaning or cooking and sometimes without knowing what is Nathan doing. I love to peek on him every now and then, most of the time to make sure he is not doing the things that he is not suppose to be doing. But sometimes i just amaze at the things that he could do/play without mommy’s company. Things that he enjoys like singing, reading books and playing his little cars. I just amused by looking at how he would line up his little cars and by pushing them back and forth in a very neat way. hahha… i wonder how he take up that? from his daddy’s side of the gene (i must tell you that daddy and grandma are neat freaks – But I don’t like it when he complain about my messiness!!)

Seriously, I didn’t pre-arrange this… Nathan did it all by himself.

21 Oct 2009 S’more everywhere??
 |  Category: Food, Nathan, Toddler  | 2 Comments

We had s’mores for dessert last night. We toasted the marshmallow using our cooktop. It turns out to be the best s’mores that I ever had. We enjoyed it very much. So, the next day, I decided to have that for dessert after lunch too. One for the little guy and of course one for mommy. After all the hard work, I handed the s’more to the little person and expect him to be very thrilled about the dessert. Then he was hesitated to take the s’more. He told me, “Mommy, s’more everywhere!!” Probably you couldn’t get what he meant. He still remember from last night when he was eating the s’more, the marshmallow and chocolate came out and stuck on his little fingers. He kept complaining about the stuff stuck on his fingers. We had to tell him, it’s ok you could licked them off. He gave us a weird look. I showed him how to lick them, he still couldn’t believe that he had to do that. Ok… little guy, you don’t have to be the cleanest person when you come to eating s’mores or any desserts that require you to lick on your fingers!

10 Sep 2009 Second Birthday
 |  Category: Holiday, Nathan, Toddler  | 2 Comments

I still can’t believe that my little monster has just turned two years old. It seems like just yesterday that he was born… and now he is 2 already. He is just growing too fast and sad thing is that on the other hand I’m just aging too fast too… sob sob :( Anyway!!! We went to Silver Dollar City for a little celebration/vacation for his birthday. Nathan enjoyed himself at the SDC with the rides and running games with other kids.  We didn’t have a party for him but he still got a lot of gifts and wishes from friends and relatives. Thank you for all the gifts and wishes on behalf of Nathan!

I’m still wondering how is the “terrible two” experience for me. For one thing, he is already saying NO to everything.  Well on the good note, he is already starting to say a lot of stuff. Today, we invited his little buddy over to play with him. We had snack after got up from nap, but Nathan had to change his diaper half way through. So, Daniel followed us to the room with his snack. Nathan saw that he was with food in his room. He turned around and said to Daniel: “Daniel, go to kitchen!” hahha.. I was so stunned at his reaction. I thought he was very cute. Maybe terrible two is not that bad. At least, I’m really enjoying talking with him now.

29 Aug 2009 Frisco Festival – Downtown Rogers, AR
 |  Category: Season, Things I do, Trip  | Leave a Comment

“It’s Friday, what can we do?” we thought we could try out the festival at downtown Rogers. When we got there, there was a throng of people coming in for the festival, we hardly find a parking space. We had to walk a distance to the destination but I would say it was a nice walk with the cool weather! Nathan was fascinated with the fire trucks and EMS vehicle parked along the street. Next, he saw people were lining up for the rides. Of course, he won’t miss that. We were worry about sending him off to ride on the train by himself. I was warning him to hold the handle and to sit tight. He did follow my instruction and enjoyed the ride very much. Well, we cannot pass on the funnel cake, corn dogs, and BBQ. So, we stopped to have our dinner there. Nathan had a giant corn dog all by himself. I would say that it was the unhealthy dinner for the evening… well, we could be unhealthy once in a while. It was 8pm, we decided that we need to go. The little young man didn’t have enough rides(we did pass out a lot of rides because it was too late and also daddy and mommy were too busy eating!) and didn’t want to leave! We promise him to take him to the Fayetteville one next week and he seems feeling better after that. Overall, it was a fun day for our family.

01 Aug 2009 Finished Sandbox
 |  Category: Nathan, Project, Toddler  | Leave a Comment

The previous post mentioned about the sandbox but without the sand. So, finally we ordered 2700lbs of sands from Lowe’s. Hubby did a great job by asking for a discount. Somehow he is better at that than me, I’m the nervous person when comes to bargaining. Anyhow, the sand was shipped to our house yard, a few feet away from the sandbox, because the forklift was too big to enter the backyard. So, how do you move the 2700lbs of sand from one place to the other? Wheelbarrow would be a good answer. But the problem is that we didn’t have one. So, Nathan’s toy car comes in handy… well, better than moving bags of sand by hands!!! Also, with the little help from the 2 years old!!
