07 Sep 2010 Anytime now!!

It’s my 36th week of pregnancy now. I’m almost finish running the pregnancy journey! I had my appointment today, the doctor took the culture for the Strep B test. He also told me that I’ve dilated for 2-3cm already! Then he told me that I could be anytime now! I went home and told my hubby about the news. He started to worry about it and wanted me to pack all the bags so that we could be ready. Somehow I didn’t think that the baby would come as fast as I would thought. Well, I’ve two more weeks of children bible study to teach, one woman’s bible study to lead, and a after church meal to prepare before the baby’s arrival! And of course, my MIL’s room to clean up and some baby’s stuff to be taken down from the attic! Come to think about it, I’ve so many things to do before my baby could come! I need to start crossing out my to do list!

8 weeks to go and we will be meeting another baby of ours! Can’t believe that when I first found out in Jan that I was pregnant and now the pregnancy is almost over. Lately, I’ve been having bad heartburn. I’ve read about the pregnancy book and found out that this is quite common. Who would know that I could pass my GTT and instead having heartburn. hahah.. I would definitely agree with everyone else, every pregnancy is different. But I would really pray very hard that the labor process would be as easy as the first one though!!! We have decided to name our second boy – Noah. Can’t wait to meet the little baby Noah in another 8 weeks!

08 Jun 2010 We’re expecting a BOY

It was an exciting day to find out the gender of my baby. I remember the night before the ultrasound, I couldn’t sleep because I was so eager to find out the gender of my baby. Somehow in my heart, I’ve hope that it was a girl. Maybe with all the little dresses that I’ve been looking at and the wonderful stories of a mother and daughter(s). So, the next morning, the whole family – Andy, Nathan and I, got up early to get ready for this big event. We first got there and waited for a while at the waiting area while the technician set up the equipment. Then, the technician called me in first to get a few shots and measurement of the baby before Nathan and daddy joined me. The technician and I were chatting and then the conversation carried on to how wonderful to have two boys in the family because she has two boys. Then immediately it came to my thought that she might be telling me that we’re expecting another boy. My heart began to sink a little. Finally, Nathan and Andy were called in and joined me for the ultrasound. After a few minutes, the moment of truth, yeah… we’re expecting another BOY! I think we both go disappointed at first in the beginning because Andy has always been wanted a little girl right from the beginning. For me, since this is going to be my last pregnancy, I thought it’s always good to have one of each. We received the news and went home to have a good breakfast and morning prayer together. Now, we’re exciting of having another boy coming to the family. I think it’s going to be a special bonding between the brothers. I remember growing up with my sisters was always fun to have sisters to share everything with despite the fact that we also fought a lot. But it was a good memory. I hope it will be the same for my boys.

Even though we were disappointed in the beginning when we heard that you were a boy, but we are joyful and privilege to know that you’re to be apart of our family. We love you baby!

      “Sing for joy, O heavens, for the LORD has done this;
       shout aloud, O earth beneath.
       Burst into song, you mountains,
you forests and all your trees,
for the LORD has redeemed Jacob,
he displays his glory in Israel.” – Isa 44:23

I had my doctor’s visit on Wednesday. Everything went well. The baby’s heart rate was 166/min and it’s normal. We haven’t known the gender yet but we should be able to know in another one or two appointment coming up. I guess every member in the family is hoping for a girl this time. My mother in law had already bought a dress…(hahha.. couldn’t resist those cute dresses on girls) And of course my husband, he has always wanted a girl. For me, dressing up a baby girl is always fun. We’re praying that God would grant our requests! But you know we couldn’t decide but God has the ultimate decision on this. Meanwhile, we’re thankful for the healthy pregnancy for now.

02 Apr 2010 Second Pregnancy

For those who have not heard, we’re pregnant again for the second time. It has been a bumpy ride for the first trimester. I’m not so lucky this time to compare to the first time. I had all the nausea and morning sickness that I could imagine in my first trimester. But I’m thankful that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Now I’m in my 13rd week, the morning sickness has very much subsided. I could eat more without bad feeling after. I even notice that my belly is showing much faster than the first one with Nathan. I’ve to wear my maternity clothings now as to compare to my first one when I only wore mine in my 22nd week. The other day I was jokingly saying to Andy. You know, this pregnancy is so different. First in the first trimester, I’ve to deal with the morning sickness. Now in my second trimester, I’ve to deal with springtime allergy. Guess I’ll be dealing with in my third trimester?

19 Apr 2009 My Weaning story with Nathan
 |  Category: Baby, Nathan  | One Comment

I’ve been such a slacker in blogging since I left USA beginning of this year. I couldn’t bear myself for not writing down this very special stage of my life. At 19 1/2 months, I’m finally starting to wean Nathan off breastmilk. I always thought that weaning is difficult because how absolutely we both enjoy the intimate relationship between a mother and a child. Everytime I meet a breastfeeding mother, I would ask about their weaning experience. They would tell me the same story of when we both are ready then the process would be easy. I doubt about it everytime I hear. Soon and behold, one day I got up and thought that it is time to wean him… I tried out the first day during his nap time without giving him milk, he whined for a while. He took a long time to fall asleep… Then the evening comes, he wasn’t even asking for milk anymore when we go to bed. I thought I should breastfeed him so that I could wean him gradually instead of going cold turkey. I asked whether he wants, of course the answer was YES! The next day, he was ready to go to nap without milk. When evening comes he was perfectly fine without it and this time I didn’t offer. The next morning, I couldn’t stand the engorgement, so I offer Nathan milk again. The following days, he was just have milk in the morning when he wakes up and everytime was not offered by request. I was so surprised at how he was so ready to wean too! So far… I’ve not completely weaned him… it has only been 4 days! I’m actually starting to miss the breastfeeding days now… I really enjoyed these moments. I’m now a wholeheartedly the supporter and advocate of breastfeeding. One of the best thing that a mother could do for her little angel(s)! I’m so proud of Nathan… and this begins the next chapter of his life.

09 Dec 2008 Childhood Game

Andy finally got home today after gotten renewed his passport at Houston. He brought us A LOT of food home. I just remember an idiom in Malay – “kamping masuk bandar” I learned in high school, which literary means a goat enters the city aka people who never been to the city and everything seems so excited and curious. After been in the Fayetteville for a long time, the big city suddenly offers a lot of things.. ahhah at least food which we care much! Andy bought home e.g. roast duck, roast pork, polo bun, sesame ball, pamelo (grapefruit) etc hahah.. even hard to remember them all.

When I first saw the pomelo that he brought back, then  I remember the game that I used to play when I was a little kid. We would cut out the peel of the pomelo with perfect cup and wear them on the head. We also did that tonight and thought that was fun!! It was a great time of reminiscing my childhood when I see the little Nathan wearing the pomelo.

23 Nov 2008 Outgrown
 |  Category: Baby, Nathan  | One Comment

Today I noticed that there was an hole on Nathan’s jammies. Actually a few of his jammies have already got holes… does it mean that he has outgrown them or just walking around too much with them?? Anyway, maybe it’s a good signs that Nathan is growing bigger and taller each day! Another reason to be thankful of. It’s just hard to imagine that my little baby has grown so much!
