29 Jun 2007 A plate full
 |  Category: Pregnancy  | 2 Comments

I had my GTT this morning at 8am. I was the first person taking the test because I thought I could leave by 11am. This time the test is really long and stressful. It begins by drinking a bigger than the last test, bottle of orange flavored glucose drink. After drinking, I started feeling really bad and feeling vomiting out. I resisted the urge and sat down and rested for a while. I had to drink some water to get pass the over sweetened drink in my body. After that, I took a walk around the hospital. The first hour was the most difficult time to pass. Maybe I didn’t eat enough the night before? I had a tooth extracted on Thursday afternoon. After the tooth extracted, I didn’t have much appetite to eat anything. I only had a bowl of oatmeal for dinner. Everything was ok and the tooth was healing faster than I thought.

I had my blood taken out before I had the drink. The second time was taken at 9:07am. The third time, I was just tired of just walking around, so I decided to go to the nursery to see babies. The tiny babies are so adorable. This gives me the strength to go on with the test, knowing that I’m growing a tiny little miracle inside my tummy. So, I sat down and watch TV in the waiting room. Another hour has passed, at 10:07am, the blood of taken out the third time. I’m feeling really tired and painful on my arm area by this time. I couldn’t give up because I’ll be done in another hour. I went back to the nursery and looked at babies again. I noticed some babies born with so much hair and they are so pink and cute. Hahaha… It’s so enjoyable just to look at this babies. I went back to the waiting area and rested my leg on another chair and I felt asleep for a while. Hahah.. so strength to fall asleep in the public. I don’t know I did anything to embarrass myself. Anyway, I hope I didn’t. Final blood sample was take out of 11:07am. Yeah, I’m done and so so done! Finally I can eat my lunch. I drove off right away and decided to buy me something to eat. Chick-Fil-A came to my mind. When I arrived at the drive through, I saw a sign saying that: “The 100th customer eats free,” I was wondering if I was the lucky one. I ordered my chicken nuggets, then I came to the window to pay. Then the cashier rang the bell, and said that I was the 100th customer. Hurray, I got a free meal! Not a bad day after all. I thought maybe God has compassion on me, seeing me went through a harsh test and decided to cheer me a little with a free meal! Thank God for that!

27 Jun 2007 Glucose screening and glucose tolerance test
 |  Category: Pregnancy  | 4 Comments

I failed my 1 hour glucose screening test this morning. I felt really bad after that because I’d not been eating well for baby! It did make Andy and I worry about it. We look up some of the information about it and try to understand what is it about. From the articles I’ve read, the 1 hour test doesn’t confirm that I’m diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I’ve to undergo a longer and more definitive exam called a glucose tolerance test (GTT). We’re praying very hard that I won’t be diagnosed with that because it will be really bad to have to go through insulin shot, taking glucose reading everyday and possibly C-section to take out the poor baby, or maybe later affect the health of the baby. I did feel really depress after failing the test. My advice for pregnant mamas now, look out for what you eat! Also, I read a piece of advice from someone online saying: ” The doctors will say eat whatever you want before this test(the night before). IGNORE THEM!! Do not eat anything sweet such as cookies or soda or a plate of pasta before you go. It WILL alter your sugar levels even though they say it doesn’t matter. I ended up having to take the 3 hour tolerance test because of the cookies and soda only to find out I did not have gestational diabetes. If I knew not to eat high sugar and high carbs before the 1 hour screen test then I cold have saved myself a lot of hassel and pain from four needles.”

04 Jun 2007 Garage Sales Shopping
 |  Category: General  | 3 Comments

Lately, I’ve been crazy about garage sales shopping. I feel so thrilled just to go around and hunt for treasures. For example, I bought a baby changing table for $20, an almost brand new bassinet for $20, a new breadmaker for $10, etc etc… Now we’re almost done with baby stuff shopping and we’ve saved hundreds of dollars so far. Also, not to forget all the blessings from God through the people around us. Andy’s colleague gave us a very good crib, friends who given us so many many baby stuff. I guess now it’s just waiting for the arrival of our baby boy – Nathan!
