26 Sep 2008 A happy Day
 |  Category: Baby, Nathan  | 3 Comments

One of Nathan’s favorite songs:

“If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands,

If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands,

If you’re happy and you know it and your face will surely show,

If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands …”

So he couldn’t sing yet but just clap his hands!

26 Sep 2008 Kisses and more kisses
 |  Category: Baby, Nathan  | Leave a Comment

Nathan was very sweet today because he was giving out kisses like crazy. It first started out when we were reading the kitty book that he has, then he kept put his mouth to the kitty on the book. At first I thought he was trying to put the book in his mouth… I was actually saying:"No no Nathan, we don’t put books into our mouth, books are to read." After a few times, he kept doing that then I realized that he was actually giving kitty kisses. After that, I was asking kisses from him, he did the same thing to me. It was the sweetest moment!! We’ve been trying to teach him to kiss by giving kisses to him.. he didn’t like it most of the time.. sometimes he feels shy and sometimes he just turn his head away. Hahha.. sometimes we actually to have force to kiss him. I got really excited and told Andy about it when he got home. Andy was ecstatic to hear that too and demand kisses from him. Of course, Nathan would love to kiss daddy. We’re definitely so excited to have Nathan responds to our love towards him with simple action – kisses!

17 Sep 2008 Mommy’s Mickey Shirt
 |  Category: Baby, Nathan  | Leave a Comment

This is actually mommy’s Mickey shirt that I’m wearing. One afternoon while mommy was taking her nap, daddy and I decided that it would be really cute if I wear mommy’s shirt and tie a little tail behind. I was happy exploring the house wearing mommy’s shirt.

17 Sep 2008 1 Year Old Nathan
 |  Category: Baby, Nathan  | 3 Comments

The previous post wrote about this one year old being sick on his birthday… poor baby!! Now that he is well, he is so busy everyday!! From the time he gets up, he is ready to explore from every corner to cabinets and rooms. There is nothing in this house that he hasn’t touched and of course things he is reachable and not locked by his parents. This one year old also is in the transition of taking 1 nap instead of 2. I was a little confused in the beginning because somedays he seems to be so tired and needed two naps but somedays he just play and play after one nap without any problems. Until I found out online then I just realized that oooo… this is called the transition period and I didn’t have any clues before. I just thought that babies just switch from 2 naps to 1 nap automatically… obviously shows my ignorant or a.k.a the first time mom. Today Nathan had his 1 year old shots. He was crying after the first poke, and got louder and louder after the second and third. I thought he would be clingy and needed a lot of attention after that. To my surprise, after we walked out of the doctor’s office, he stopped crying. He is back to his exploring mode at the clinic. We got back home without any more complaints from him. I was really impressed! So.. I find that our time together is getting more fun! We can play longer hours without any fusses from him. Sometimes he even tired me out.. I swear that sometimes I take my few minutes of nap on the sofa when he was so content playing by himself. Until I realize that he is no longer in the room.. then I quickly get up so that he is not getting into troubles. Besides him being more independent now, he is also understand more of my commands and words. Unfortunately, he still couldn’t talk more except for bababa… and everything is ba baba to him. Sometimes when he wants something, he would do the em em em sound. I seriously have no clues. As a result, he would cry because couldn’t get what he wants. For example tonight at the dinner table, he was doing the em em em again. I was clueless and trying to get everything that he wants. Then at the end, I only realize that he wanted me to use the fork to feed him instead of the spoon. Hahha… now I wish he could talk more so that I could understand him better. I guess I have to wait for another 1 year or so to get him talking.. who knows by the time he starts talking, I would wish him to talk less.

06 Sep 2008 No fun birthday
 |  Category: Baby, Nathan  | 2 Comments

Sept 4 was supposed to be a fun day because Nathan turned 1. I was planning for the birthday party about 3 weeks before and even Andy had asked time off for 2 days just to celebrate Nathan’s birthday. The night before his birthday, he was so happily walking around and playing with daddy and mommy. Out of the blue in the middle of the night, he started vomiting. I thought he was just eating too much. It was so strange that after he vomited, he was so weak and fell right back to sleep without any cries. I was so surprised to see such a sight! I didn’t even care about that because I thought he was really exhausted. After a few hours, he vomited again. This time really caught my attention. I picked him up just to make sure that the vomited stuff didn’t stuck in his throat. He was not even awaken by my patting on his back and felt back to sleep. I started to worry about him. The next morning, he threw out more. I awaken Andy.. but he kept telling me that he was ok because I always just too panic about anything. I calmed myself down and after a while Nathan was ok then I thought maybe Andy is right! Andy got up and made us omelette. Nathan was enjoying the omelette too. After about 1/2 hour, he threw out everything that he ate. This time really caught our attentions! We tried to make an appointment to take Nathan to the clinic but it was too late of the day to get an appointment. Instead the clinic wanted us to leave a message so that the nurse would call us back. We waited for a long while, couldn’t wait anymore. Thank God for the internet so that I could search out some answer online. After reading some articles and found the answer that he was having is gastroenteritis or stomach flu. It was caused by virus. So, we bought a few bottles of pedialyte just to make sure he was well hydrated. I tried feeding him breast milk, he kept vomiting too. We were so worry but at least we got through the day to go to the doctor the next day. We had to call off the party.  The next day we went to the doctor early. The doctor confirmed that he has gastroenteritis. There is no medicine to cure his illness and just take time to get over it. So, we got back and he was very fussy and clingy. He didn’t want to do anything except to be held by mommy the whole time. Now I realize that all mommies have the most powerful arms!!! I never imagine me to be able to carry a 20 pounds for a long long time… Nathan was having stomach pain I guess because he kept moving here and there even when I was carrying him and this made it hard to wear my sling. We kept changing his diaper 5-7 times every hour. We were getting really worry… we kept feeding him pedialyte and breast milk to keep him hydrated. The next day, he was better, he was able to play a little with the new toy that daddy got him. He didn’t have anymore vomit and also the diarrhea was subsided, down to 1-2 times through the day. Nathan is showing signs of recovery because he was quite playful the whole day. We really thank God that he is getting better. It was a horrible experience for us. It’s no fun to have sick baby around especially he can’t even tell what’s going on just crying and fussing. I hope that tomorrow he will be recovered completely so that he at least get to eat a little of his Elmo cake. At last but not least, we want to thank all the people who are praying for Nathan!

01 Sep 2008 The Tulsa Zoo
 |  Category: Nathan, Trip  | 4 Comments

Riding in the car is not the favorite for little Nathan. You can image taking a baby even for 15 min is hard… how much more for a 2 hours drive to the Tulsa Zoo and of course another 2 hour ride home? Well, it definitely takes a good planning and strategy. Nathan got up at 6:30am today and we planned to go out about 2 hours after his waking up because it is about the time he would take his morning nap. This way we could have less crying to hear in the car. I nursed him before put him in the car seat. He was doing quite well and I thought that he might fall asleep soon. After about 45min or 1 hour, he was still awake and now he was getting really tired. He gotten kinda frustrated and started screaming a little. It was not too bad at all and after a few screams, he finally fell asleep. So, we arrived at the Tulsa Zoo with not too much noises from him and it was a good start! Then we spent about 3 hours in the zoo. It was a hot day yet he enjoyed it very much. The best part for him was not actually the animals but was the carousel rides that he had with daddy! He was jumping up and down before the rides and smiling to mommy while riding. Also, he didn’t want to get down from the ride which was the best indication of how much he enjoyed the ride!! After the ride, he was very content to stay in the stroller for a long while which is another surprise for mommy! About 2pm, he was not so content anymore because it’s nap time again. So, I carried him in the sling and back to the entrance with not too long way to go. It was time to head home and the baby was tired. I nursed him a little in the car and very quickly he was in his dreamland. The trip home was peace and quiet until the "incident" at the toll. We didn’t bring cash with us and we finally dug up all the coins, with the 15 pennies and other coins and made up the $2.25 for the toll. So, the automatic coin machine doesn’t take pennies but the toll lady insisted us to throw the coins in the machine. With all the confusions and talking, we awaken the baby. From that onwards, it was a hell ride to home. He was screaming and crying all the way home. It was for another 1 hour!!! Well, what could we say, never wake up a tired and sleepy baby! He sure was not in good mood in the car ride after that! But overall, it was a good trip and actually it was better than what I would have thought of.
